Yeah, I just released a couple Christmas songs, in May. No, it wasn’t an effort to get the jump on the Christmas 2026 season. Actually, it was housekeeping from the 2025 season. Without going off topic, there will be more Celtic Christmas songs for 2026.

I’m learning more and more about the business side of music. I wish I didn’t have to, but being an independent and pretty new to the whole game, I get to figure it out on my lonesome,. That and asking ChatGPT and Google a lot of questions.

Did you know that for an artist to collect all songwriting and performance royalties, there are something like 5 different organizations they need to belong to. And that doesn’t include publishing which another beast entirely.

When I posted the Celtic videos on YouTube last year, I wasn’t yet monetized, so nothing for those 150,000 some old clicks for Celtic Silent Night, Celtic Angels We Have Heard on High, and my original Beyond the Season. It took till around February for all the counts to come in and qualify me for monetization. They did and going forward those videos and any other I post will contribute to my income. But there are different royalties for those songs that I can claim. In order to do that they had to be released to get certain tracking information.

We’re not talking huge sums here. At least a cup of coffee or two. Well maybe a little more than that, but I won’t be buying a place in Beverly Hills anytime soon. Probably never.

In the meantime, I’ll keep writing, keeping mixing and keep mastering the kind of songs I want to hear. And hopefully you will want to hear them too!
