Bio
After years of being more concerned with making a living, I began to focus on art in the early 2000s. I began with experimenting in digital painting, and later returned to my early love of photography. Beginning with a trip to Alaska in 2015, I have concentrated on photography, exploring the potential of abstract photography using, smoke, paper, natural, and found elements. Color and form are my primary concerns in abstract photography. I have a particular interest in black and white photography where I am more apt to make photographs of landscapes and botanicals. I currently live in Pennsylvania.
Artist Statement
I create art that is intended to illicit a reaction, to grab the viewer’s attention through the use of form and color. I’m especially interested in shapes and items that when combined with color and structure result in more complex images. In photography I utilize black and white to emphasize contrast and form. Most of my paintings and photographs are intended as a visual celebration, but I will address ideas and themes intended to invoke thoughtful conversation.
Music
Music has always been a part of my life. I like almost every kid of my generation at least dreamed of being a rock star. I had long yearned to learn piano, but there always seemed to be something else more important that demanded my attention. I cannot sing, so it seemed those rock star dreams would remain dreams. In the fall of 2025 I began to explore the idea of AI assisted video. And since video means background music one led to the other. The more I explored the musical aspects of AI the more entranced with the possibilities I became. Instead of using AI to produce background tracks I began experimenting. I used AI to assist me with writing lyrics and then Suno to set those lyrics to music and provide vocals. Then I began writing more, leaning less on AI and pulling from my memories and observations. I discovered I could write songs. How well is something you’ll have to determine for yourself. I started taking piano lessons in early summer 2026. I don’t know how far I’ll go, but it is certain I’ll at least attempt music composition. At the least there will be piano tracks I play added to songs I produce. The dreamer would love for a major to cover one of my songs. Now that would be awesome. If you click on Music Home above you’ll be taken to the page where I provide more information about the music I’m producing.
