Bio
After years of being more concerned with making a living, I began to focus on art in the early 2000s. I began with experimenting in digital painting, and later returned to my early love of photography. Beginning with a trip to Alaska in 2015, I have concentrated on photography, exploring the potential of abstract photography using, smoke, paper, natural, and found elements. Color and form are my primary concerns in abstract photography. I have a particular interest in black and white photography where I am more apt to make photographs of landscapes and botanicals. I currently live in Pennsylvania.
Artist Statement
I create art that is intended to illicit a reaction, to grab the viewer’s attention through the use of form and color. I’m especially interested in shapes and items that when combined with color and structure result in more complex images. In photography I utilize black and white to emphasize contrast and form. Most of my paintings and photographs are intended as a visual celebration, but I will address ideas and themes intended to invoke thoughtful conversation.
